The video says a lot. As I've said a couple times before, such hatred is inexcusable, but, as ridiculous as it may be, it's not just going to just go away. The message of that video can easily be seen as proof of that.

I support this group, as well. Please do forgive me, if my previous comments were misleading in that regard. But, my intent was merely to point out that there are two sides to every coin, and that sitting by and asking why this hatred won't go away will do no one any good.

It won't just go away over time, any more than racism did. Just like someone had to stand up and make the hatred and mistreatment towards black people (mostly) go away in America (a feat that took a multitude of tries and "someones"), someone needs to make the hatred and mistreatment towards gay people go away.

As I've already said, this hatred is inexcusable (and, as such, should go away), but it won't go away on its own.

I apologize if I use the wrong term, I dont wish to offend anybody, but although I am not gay myself, I do support gay rights and gay marriage. I can understand why certain people are against it, whether it be because it is against their religion, or whatever. However, one cannot control who, or what, they fall in love with. Love is love. It cant be picked up and placed upon someone else just because other people dont approve or whatever the case. We also cant control what each of us are interested in. If a guy is interested in other guys, than its not his fault. Same circumstance with women. I support this group 100% :)

Again, it's sad, but true. Humans are very social creatures, a lot like dogs, in fact. But when one "dog" doesn't fit in with the rest of the "pack", the other dogs tend to frown upon him or her. If you're different, you're going to be hated by someone, just for being different, and it won't matter how.

If you're gay, you're different.

If your religion is not the same as everyone else's, you're different.

If your skin is a different hue from everyone else's, you're different.

It always has been that way, and it will stay that way, as long as people remain to be unwilling to accept eachother's differences. Don't get me wrong, such hatred is inexcusable, but it's the kind that won't just go away. Someone has to make it go away, that's what I'm saying.

It doesn't matter what era we're in, and how or why you're gay certainly doesn't in the eyes of those who hate you. As long as you're different, you will always be less than human in their eyes.

Until the day that you or someone else gets it through their heads that you are, in fact, human, this will not change. Again, it's a sad truth, but a truth, nonetheless.

A good chunk of America's laws are based off of Christian belief. In Christian belief,(and many other religions, from what I hear), homosexuality is considered to be a sin. On top of that, it's a way in which you are perceived as being different, and with difference comes prejudice--a sad truth, but a truth, nonetheless. :(

That's where the hate comes from...

The thing is, in America, wasn't same-sex marriage banned because of a religious petition that argued that marriage was a holy matrimony? If so, then what the hell happened to separating church form state?!

Comment by Anika Smith on May 16, 2012 at 7:05pm

Although I do support same-sex marriage, homophobia means something completely different than the way you meant it. "Homo" means "the same," so "homophobia" is actually "the fear of sameness," which is definitley not what these people have.
